چکیده
Alopecia areata (AA) is an autoimmune disease that has underlying immuno-inflammatory pathogenesis and characterized by nonscarring hair loss ranging from small patches to complete scalp (alopecia totalis [AT]), face, body universalis [AU]). Studies describing the epidemiology of AA, especially measuring occurrence AA within general population, are scarce. This was a historical population-based cohort study in Denmark estimated incidence rate (IR) prevalence hospital-treated among persons 12 years or older. Data several nationwide health administrative registries (1995-2016) were linked on individual level. The incident included 2,778 patients. Sixty percent patients between 18 – 50 old at first-recorded hospital diagnosis, women comprised 63% cohort. During period, IRs per 100,000 2.6 [95% confidence interval: 2.5-2.7] for any AA; 0.5 [0.4-0.5] AT/AU; 2.2 [2.1-2.3] non-AT/AU. In 1995-2016, 82 [79-84] 24 [22-25] AT/AU, 70 [68-73] 16 [15-17] 1995 74 [72-77] 2016. observed increase may be partially related recording practices.

Most patients show localized patches of acute hair loss, where regrowth is observed spontaneously or with simple topical treatment within fe...
